What Is Being Requested Of You

Before, during, and after a game, you are an NWYSA representative and one of your goals in each game you work, with the cooperation of all involved, is help make the experience of the teams a good one.  Being a fair and proficient Referee will help you to achieve this goal.

Requirements

* Age: 12 Or Older
* Experience: Soccer Player Or Coach

* USSF Certification: Preferred, But Not Required 

Wear And Equipment

* Referee Shirt [If One Yellow, If Two Yellow, Black]
* Black Shorts Or Pants
* Black Socks
* Soccer Shoes 
* Watch With Stopwatch Capability
* Whistle
* Cards 
* Patch [If USSF Certified]
* Poncho Or Jacket [Clear, Yellow, Black]

Pay

Referees are paid in cash after their day's last assignment.
 

Under 4/5/6 Game
* One Referee: $10 Per Game ($15 Per Game If USSF Certified)
 

Under 7/8/9 Game
* One Referee:  $15 Per Game ($20 Per Game If USSF Certified)
 

Under 10/11/12 Game 

* One Referee:  $30 Per Game ($35 Per Game If USSF Certified)

* Two Referees:  $25 Per Game ($30 Per Game If USSF Certified)
 

Under 13/14/15 Game
* One Referee:  $35 Per Game ($40 Per Game If USSF Certified)

* Two Referees:  $30 Per Game ($35 Per Game If USSF Certified)

Assignments

* An email will be sent to all referees each Monday listing the coming Saturday's games.

* If wanting to be assigned to a game/s, reply with the time you can start, the time you   need to end, and up to how many games you are willing to work by Wednesday

* If being assigned to a game/s, you will receive an email on Thursday

* If you weren't assigned to a game/s, you will not receive an email on Thursday

* Referees will be assigned a share of games during the season, but a referee's availability    and performance will be the main factors when determining assignments

Procedures

Pre-Game
* Review the division rules, league rules, and laws of the game
* Print a copy of the division and league rules and keep them with you at each game
* Arrive 15 minutes in advance to receive the day’s instructions and review the   day's assignments
* Perform a field safety check
* Ensure there are no spectators in the team area, too near the goals, and too near the field
* Under 4/5/6 and Under 7/8/9 teams check-in, both teams at the center circle, 5 minutes   before kickoff
* Under 10/11/12 and Under 13/14/15 teams check-in, team in front of their bench, 5 minutes   before kickoff
* If only one referee for a Under 10/11/12 and Under 13/14/15 game request volunteer   linesmen, one from each team
 

Game
* Start and end on time
* Move with play
* Be heard, voice and whistle, and use hand signals per law #5
* Be instructional
* When asked about a call, briefly and politely explain
* When needed, be more forceful, but maintain the appropriate tone and body language
* Keep unsportsmanlike conduct, careless, reckless, and excessive force under control
* Keep score
 

Post-Game
* Oversee teams handshake and post-game interaction to ensure Good Sportsmanship   until the teams have left the field
* Remind coaches to pick-up their teams trash and items
* Perform trash and forgotten team items sweep in and around the field after each game
* If the last game of the day ask the coaches for their help to return the team benches,   corner flags, and team pop tents to the soccer van.
* If there were any pre-game, game, or post-game issues, make the Assignor aware of this    ASAP, leave a note, or send an email
* If an impact player/s was left in the game for nearly all or the entire game or there was a    6-goal or more goal differential in a game, make the Assignor aware of this ASAP, leave a    note, or send an email
